Can I used a modded/chipped Xbox for Live?

Microsoft have checks in place to identify chipped Xboxes logging onto Xbox Live, and will ban any chipped consoles it spots. Their reason for this is to ensure no modified consoles can come online, cheat in games, and ruin it for everyone. It also helps stop anyone pirating Live games for online use.
