How do you switch an Xbox Live account from one xbox to another?

in5ane.com > FAQs > Xbox Live FAQ > Miscelleanous

There are two ways you can do this, depending on your situation.

If you want to use Xbox Live on a friends console, or a second console of your own, you can transfer the account to a memory card. This account will then be available to whatever machine the memory card is plugged into. You can delete the profile from the hard drive of the original Xbox if it is not needed, and copy the profile to the hard drive of the new Xbox if you want to use it permanently as your main account on that machine.

However, if you cannot use a memory card to transfer your account, for example if you have sold the machine or accidentally deleted the profile, you can use the Account Recovery to get the account back on one machine. This involves you supplying your original credit card information, and can only be done once per machine, per account.
