Can I hook up an Xbox 360 to a television and cable box and have internet access?
While the Xbox 360 is certainly capable of everything a PC is, and has USB ports for mice and keyboards, either by design or oversight, you
can't do much PC stuff on your TV via your 360, and this includes surfing the net, MSN, email and stream music/video.
What you can do with a 360 and the internet is play online Xbox games, and download content from Xbox Live Marketplace- stuff like arcade games, movie and game trailers, and game demos.
If you have a PC with Windows Media Center installed, you can use the 360 as an extender to the Media Center services, which can include some internet-enabled content, but it is still not an ideal solution.
This all may change when the PlayStation 3 and the Vista operating system are released. Microsoft may well try to compete with the PS3's multimedia capabilities by upgrading the 360 (which is possible via downloadable firmware patches). Vista is also rumoured to have as much media functionality as the current Windows Media Center Edition, which will have implications on what can be done with the 360 in the future.
