Can you play Xbox Live against people online with their PlayStation?

Xbox Live is purposely a closed and seperate online environment, and therefore online players of the same game but on different consoles cannot compete together.

Xbox Live ensures everyone will have broadband, a microphone/headset and a persistent gamertag. Other online services do not guarantee this.

There may be some cross-platform play in the future with the Xbox 360 and PC games.
