Will the current Xbox Live work with the next-gen Xbox 360?

in5ane.com > FAQs > Xbox Live FAQ > The Service

Microsoft have said current Live subsciptions will work on their console, and will be renewed the same as before for a similar price.

The Xbox Live service isn't really tied to any hardware as such, so it is expected it will be a smooth transition onto the Xbox 360 for XBL players.

There will be no need to change your network set-up: in most cases it will be simply a case of unplugging your current Xbox and plugging the lead into the new console. In fact, this time round it may well be easier with the inclusion of some sort of built in wireless consideration.

One major change to the service is the idea of two different tiers of users, Silver (free but limited) and Gold (similar to subscribing now).
